I wrote this a while back...I'm glad I found it again.
I like Oslo by night. So peaceful even though a view of the city lights at a distance from my balcony is all I get these days.
Every now and then I see them at 3 am, in their heels, from their cabs with their phones in their hands. As the look of it, it's been a long night for them too. I used to be one of them, dressing up, drinks, late nights. But now my late nights are spent inside in my pajamas, usually waiting, waiting for him to communicate in his own little way. And we he wakes up, I'm there. He know's I'm there. I like to know that he knows that I'm there.
My hubby wakes up when I get back. He sighs when I tell him that sleep is overrated. At daytime when the fatigue is at its worse, I tell him sleep is a luxury. My hands are tied, nothing I can do about the situation. And the sitch, well we have a baby here. And here is where I want to be right now. And here is good. Oslo by night is good.
All things pretty within fashion, travel, food or anything that puts a smile on my face.

Everybody hurts sometimes...
It's been a rough couple of weeks. It's going to take a while to get out of this one, but I've had some helping hands. They make me smile.

Family Bonding
January has been dedicated to family. Hubby has had the whole month off so we've taken the opportunity to travel to the west coast to spend time with his family. It's been very relaxing and we have even managed to squeeze in a date or two, making me realise how important it is to have grand parents nearby. Unfortunately we live on the other side of the country. It's the price we have to pay by living in the city. On the positive side I have amazing friends and a realiable brother who probably would love to babysit the little one. I guess I just have to be brave enough to ask...

Confessions of a newbie mother: Looking back....
over my shoulder. I do that often these days. An what a beautiful sight I'm hit with: My son playing on his mat.
I would like to sum up 2011 in two words: blissfully difficult. It doesn't really make any sense, but that's whats this whole year has been about. Nothing made sense. Being sick for the whole pregnancy didn't make sense. Having a mild depression when the little one came didn't make sense. The little one didn't make sense. A rather difficult time.
In the midst of it all there were tiny moments that made the shady grey turn to bright pink. It was a moment of bliss. At first, I felt it just for a second so I easily brushed it away by going back to my loop of dark thoughts. Then gradually seconds turned into minutes, turning into hours.
Looking back over my shoulder and I spot the little one. I smile and hopefully will keep on smiling in 2012.

Outfit: New Years Hoopla
I ended up wearing something quite "dressed-down" for a NYE outfit. The plan was to have a chilled out family dinner at my aunt's place. It turned out to be much more festive than I thought as she had invited quite a few friends as well. I ended up spending most of the evening and night in the spare bedroom with my two fave people in the world, trying to make one of them to go to sleep (not the mister, even though he fell asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow). Although I was exhausted I'm glad I had my two boys with me on the final day of 2011.
Sorry for the really poor quality pics.

I think I may have been a good girl this year..
...Because I received so many presents from my lovelies. Here are a few of them:
I also got a gift card to a spa treatment which I'm really looking forward too and plus a little something something that I'll blog about later. I really do feel lucky and a tad bit guilty about receiving so many gifts. I do think we spend too much money on Christmas presents, but every year is the same. I try, but I never seem to think about the price when I'm doing my Christmas shopping. Perhaps next year.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..
It's been a hectic week. Preparing for Christmas is not easy with the little one, especially Christmas shopping. I've been running around like crazy the last couple of days buying the presents I didn't get hold of in London. I needed it done as I had to send it off with my hubby's parents who have been staying with us for the last couple of days. Luckily I managed to get a couple of hours by myself on Friday, which helped me reach my goal.
The weekend has been lovely with some quality family time. Hubby's niece came along with his parents. She's a sweet child. However I did get a glimpse on how it feels like having two kids. Not sure I want to go there...

Christmas party
Last weekend we were invited to Stavanger by my hubby's company to attend their two-day Christmas event. I was a bit hesitant as I knew logistics would be difficult with a kid. However my worries was a waste of time as it all went pretty smoothly. We stayed at a hotel the whole weekend and our very own babysitters (hubby's sister and boyfriend) stayed in a room next to us. I'm so proud of the little one for being an angel (or so I was told). And the flight back and forth was a piece of cake. Maybe he too has caught the travel bug...

Outfit: Date Night
Hubby and I had our first date night since the little one was born. I was really looking forward to a night out, but also a bit apprehensive leaving the little one with the babysitters. Acting brave I got ready for our night out. The act didn't last for long as I admitted defeat and shed a tear or two in the car on our way to the restaurant. However, I did manage to have a really good time. Enjoyed the company of hubby, his brother and wife. It was like being back in the good old days, but much better. I'm lucky enough to have a beautiful son to come home to.

Roadtrip getaway
Probably our last trip as a "family" of two. I would have wished for a more exciting destination, but as my bump kind of prevents me to fly, our final goal was Stavanger. Of course we plotted several stops on the way as I need a break from well sitting I guess (not a joke). We also had an overnight stay to and from Stavanger. Although I'm extremely exhausted, the trip turned out to be wonderful and much needed. Although I'm an overseas hopper, I'm really surprised of how beautiful this country can be, especially in nice weather.
