Mummy's bags: The clutch

A recent addition to my bag collection is this lovely clutch from YSL. To be honest the picture doesn't really do it any justice, because it's so much more beautiful in real life. Still tucked neatly in its bag at the moment, safe sound. But tomorrow I'm taking the pretty little thing out for its very first spin. Me and the hubby have been invited to this fancy dinner party and I'm pretty sure that the clutch will compliment my new dress from Topshop. So follow this page. More pics to come.

Outfit; The maxi dress

Maxidress: By Malene Birger

Just because you're a mum, doesn't mean you can't play dress-up

Mummy's scent

Introducing Jo Malone's Wild Bluebell; my new fave perfume. I don't know if it actually smells like wild bluebells, but it does smell flowery. It's not too floral and not too sweet, but just the perfect combination of both worlds. I'm terrible at describing scents so I'll just leave you with the description from the website

Vibrant sapphire blooms in a shaded woodland. The delicate sweetness of dewy bluebells suffused with lily of the valley and eglantine, and a luscious twist of persimmon. A mesmerising fragrance.

Confessions of a newbie mother: Baby in the big city

Ooopps we did it again. We left the country with our baby. Now I'm sure that there are many little toddlers out there who have ventured out into the big wide world a lot more times than my little one. But for someone who had a though first meeting with motherhood I reckon I should get a medal for stepping back into my traveling nomad lifestyle. Yes we did make an easy transition by setting off to Cyprus as his first destination, but let's face it you can't keep me away from the big city. So off we went to London town. We chose to stay at a hotel that's was a bit off the tourist trail, well not on the regular path anyway, in Kensington. We opted for an apartment style hotel with a kitchenette in the room as we thought it would give us the opportunity to make food for the little one. In retrospective it might not have been necessary as we probably could just have used an electric kettle. All in all though I was pretty pleased with the hotel. The room was your regular size British room so in other words, small, but the bathroom was quite large, very modern and clean and the service was impeccable. The best part was the location. About 3 minute walk from Earls Court station and very baby friendly environment with restaurants and several grocery shops nearby.

Well enough of the hotel PR. In case you want to know, the name of the hotel is Base2stay. But like I said, enough with marketing strategy and over to the baby in the city. Although we lived nearby the tube station, we hardly used it, but mostly took the bus, taxi or just used walked around. We were out from early morning to late afternoon and it really wasn't a problem at all. Of course, we made sure that we had provisions for the little one, always carrying a banana around. When he got tired, he just slept in the stroller. We did of course avoid the busiest streets like Oxford Street. I'm pretty sure my hubby would get a stroke or something if we ventured into that craziness with the little one.

It is worth telling though that we didn't travel by ourselves. My hubby's parents came along with us. Always good to have company and a pair of extra helping hands. This meant that I was able to take part of the craziness of Oxford Street one afternoon by myself. London love with a baby.

Outfit: The cool kid

Beanie from Katvig, bib from Name it, body from Cubus,  tracksuit bottoms from Katvig
The little one likes it best when its comfy, especially during his "I don't want to sit still" stage. He is everywhere these days so tracksuit bottoms suits his "way of living". I went crazy at this shop in the west coast who had Katvig clothes. A bit pricey, but most of the things that I got were on sale. Check their website out: http://www.katvig.dk/collection/. Lots of colors which happens to be the little one's fave.

Confessions of a newbie mother: The travel bug bit my son

The little one's first encounter with the overseas travel bug. He took it quite well, extremely well.

Needless to say that I was a bit nervous about a few things; 4,5 hours flight, the heat, a house full of kids, but the bugbite didn't give him any huge discomfort. Yes his normal sleeping pattern and eating routine were a bit juggled by the new enviroment, but nothing too major to take away his good mood. As a result I think both the little one and his parents will be doing some more traveling in the future.

It is worth mentioning though, that traveling with a baby is of course a lot more work than traveling by yourself. Time management is the key. I've done both scenarios: Stressing and running to the gate (thinking we had loads of time, but managing to forget that checking in extra equipments such as a pram takes a bit longer) and having a little more time on your hand to even manage to pop by the duty free section. I must say that I really prefer the latter one.  And the latter situation happened to be our choice for this trip which work out splendidly.

Once we arrived at our destination, Cyprus, we didn't make any definite plans, cause it's just not possible. You are not really your own boss anymore. The little one pulls all the strings. So didn't get to do my normal sightseeing and sink in all the culture. Instead there were lots of lazy days by the pool, which isn't so bad actually. I got the hang of it, so much that we are probably going back next year.

Confessions of a newbie mother: Oslo by night

I wrote this a while back...I'm glad I found it again.

I like Oslo by night. So peaceful even though a view of the city lights at a distance from my balcony is all I get these days.

Every now and then I see them at 3 am, in their heels, from their cabs with their phones in their hands. As the look of it, it's been a long night for them too. I used to be one of them, dressing up, drinks, late nights. But now my late nights are spent inside in my pajamas, usually waiting, waiting for him to communicate in his own little way. And we he wakes up, I'm there. He know's I'm there. I like to know that he knows that I'm there.

My hubby wakes up when I get back. He sighs when I tell him that sleep is overrated. At daytime when the fatigue is at its worse, I tell him sleep is a luxury. My hands are tied, nothing I can do about the situation. And the sitch, well we have a baby here. And here is where I want to be right now. And here is good. Oslo by night is good.

Outfit: Welcome Mr. Wang

I've been wanting to get hold of this skirt for ages, but I've been a bit hesitant because of the price.  Every now and then I get a reminder in my mailbox from Shopbop that it's been in my cart forever: Buy it already! So I did and it arrived a couple of weeks ago.

It's already a staple in my wardrobe and I love love love it. Worth the investment.
