Russian Red

My London shopping pour moi focused mainly on beauty products. One of my purchases was Mac's matte lipstick in the shade Russian Red. I love the combination of natural glow makeup with a matte red lip. Very sophisticated.

I've been kind of playing around with it and I'm not really sure about the result. Maybe more "chic-messed-up" rather than "chic-Paris". Oh well, I still love the red lipstick though. Maybe I'll be brave enough to sporting it out one day.

Shellac part deux

I had my Shellac appointment today and I have to say that I'm fairly pleased with the outcome. The glossy finish is amazing and I love the fact that your nails dries instantly. The only pet peeve is that the manicurist didn't cover my entire nail. Although it's not noticeable the sides of my nails are not fully covered. I'm pretty sure it's not suppose to be like that. Will have to ask her when I have it removed in two weeks time. Excited to see how long the manicure will last.

Shellac

The last couple of months has been really stressful with the kitchen refurbishment. Although I haven't physically contributed that much, it's still tiring for a preggy woman in my state having to face the clutter every day. I am therefore looking very much forward to my spa manicure on Wednesday. This is another one of my birthday present. Felt like I needed to mention it as I really can't afford to having my nails done that often.

Anyway, I will be trying out something new, the latest rave in the beauty nail world, Shellac. Very much looking forward to it. Will post a pic on Wednesday.

Although I'm kind of addicted to my computer and the internet, I've just recently discovered the world of youtube. Don't get me wrong, I don't live in the stone age because I have been watching youtube for years, but only if there has been a link to the site somewhere. I haven't actively been seeking out videos on youtube. This of course changed when I got pregnant, which you all know hasn't exactly been the 'glowing' type of pregnancy for me. But it's not about that, I thought I would share a little discovery for those few of you (mainly family and friends) who read my blog. If you're interested in beauty related materials e.g. makeup, body- and skincare, you need to check out http://www.youtube.com/user/AModelRecommends; British model Ruth Crilly's youtube homepage. As the name reveals, her videos contains beauty recommendations. She's not a makeup artist, but being a model for over 10 years, she certainly has picked up a tip or two. The fact that she isn't a makeup artist makes it even more interesting (and funny) to watch because she has the consumer's point of view, which is basically you and me. And she is painfully honest! I guess that's why I like her blog and videos because I reckon she would be so much fun to hang out with. As I'm sounding like a bit of crazy fanatic, I'll just stop here. Just thought I would spread the word.

About a boy

Turning 30 I thought it was about time that I purchased my first lipstick and what better way to start than Chanel.

I've never really been a lipstick person as I feel they tend to dry out my lips. However this one from Chanel in the shade Boy is really moisturizing and longlasting. The color is quite neutral and very wearable. An added bonus of course for the sleek design which always follows all Chanel products. Feeling chic and all grown-up by carrying it around with me in my bag.

Legend

Although I spend most of my time at home these days, I still like to put makeup on. It just makes me feel a bit better both emotionally and physically. The other day I managed to hop on the bus to Frogner to visit Gimle Parfymeri to buy a Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. The weather was lovely and although the bumpy ride on the bus made me queezy it still felt good to be out.

It was my first time at Gimle Parfymeri and I'm so pleased with the service there, really amazing. Buying the right shade for your skin tone is always a tricky one, but the lady who helped me out was spot on. After having using the tinted moisturizer for a couple of days, I can't stop raving enough about this product. It is the best beauty product I have ever bought and I recommend everyone to go out and try it. Leaving your skin glowing and healthy and with a bit of coverage, it's perfect for everyday wear. The price range is on the high end, but it's well worth it. A definite legend.

26.02.11 - Beauty school

As I am growing in size, the fun of shopping clothes is not exactly at the same level as it used to be. I've grown accustom to my maternity wear of comfy and stretch attires but I don't feel like spending any more money on pieces that I might just use once in my life. My few quick trips to the nearest shopping center has resulted into me carrying bags filled with beauty products instead of clothes. Here are some of my findings:

Bronzer from Clarins

I loved the bronzer from Clarins. The shades are really wearable and great for contour. Bonus for lovely packaging as well.

Pro Lumiére Foundation from Chanel. Pic from chanel.com

Makeup artist all over the world rave about Chanel Pro Lumiére being the best foundation with a flawless finish so I thought I would give it a try. I'm still not sure about it, but I think I need to perfect the use of a foundation brush first and then get back to you.

I'm not sure if these products helps against stretch mark, but I'm willing to give it a try. They were quite pricey, but I think I deserve a bit of luxury.
